QUEEN ANNE BLUE PAINTED CANDLESTICK
When do you ever see a period Queen Anne stick in paint? The blue paint is really wonderful and I guess pretty close to 75 years old. There is a fair amount of use and wear on the paint but the brass stick is in almost pristine condition. It is 7 1/4" high and the base is 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". TREEN CANDLESTICK
Most likely made in the late 19th to early 20th Century this candleholder really is a statement on a table or chest. I had it in a grouping of things on a 17th Century chest and it was killer. It is 13" high and 5 1/2" in diameter and has a nice aged natural surface. IRON CANDLEHOLDER
Just a great and almost innocent blacksmith made iron candleholder. This is the way I like finding pieces of lighting. It was used and I do mean used. In the early 18th Century most families had very few pieces of lighting and the light was very poor. They were carried from place to place and I am sure fell many times. This particular stick exhibits all of that use. What makes this one really unique is it's rolled over top. It is 14 1/4" high and looks terrific on a chest , blanket chest or in the center of a table. PAIR OF EARLY BRASS OIL OR BETTY LAMPS Here are two fine early cast brass and iron betty lamps. The larger one has a great early twisted wrought iron hanger, with iron hoops to connect the parts that have wonderful old wear from many years of use. The smaller one has a nice cast brass hanger with great form, and also wonderful iron hoops to hold the brass parts together. The pans on both are cast brass with nice old filing marks on them. They both were found in northern Vermont, and date to the early 18th C. Smaller one is SOLD TIN LANTERN
TIN WALL SCONCE
Almost folky and yet a real 19th Century tin wall candle sconce that has a faint punched cross on the reflector back of the sconce. You can make out the shape just slightly better on the backside as pictured above. There is no candle cup but the candle works just great if you melt some wax on the bottom and hold the candle in place for a few seconds. No major hurts just a small hole in the base. It is 10" high x 3 7/8" deep with a nice darkened natural patina. A wonderful hand made piece. IRON BETTY DOUBLE LAMP
Magnificent workmanship went into this 18th Century double iron Betty Lamp. It is in great condition with a remaining pick and really nice detail in the lamp. It is 6" high and a rare large size not often seen plus/and my favorite form of Betty. BRASS CANDLEHOLDER
An 18th Century brass William and Mary candlestick that stands 6 1/2" high and is most likely from England. It has all of its parts with a nice aged surface. There is one crack to the top lip probably created by a fall to the floor or stone hearth. MAKE DO CANDLEHOLDERS
Can anyone guess what these two make do candleholders were made from at some point. They were each part of a pulley that probably broke and the inside with its hole just made the perfect place to put a candle. Very fun and very affordable for someone that has just about everything else. The larger one is 6" high x 5 1/2" in diameter and the smaller one is 4 3/4" high x 5" in diameter. The height includes the candle in each. Contact : Antiques at Hillwood Farms | ||||||||||||||||||||
