With nice color and in quite good condition this "GR " mug is a great addition to an early collection. The drinking mug is 6 1/2" high.
Measuring 6" high the redware tankard is a great addition to a redware collection or simply sitting alone. It is in very fine condition and a rich dark Albany glaze. It is early 19th Century and most likely American. It is amazingly heavy for its size and was probably used for beer.
The drinking jug is Westerwald known as Blauwerk and from the 17th Century. These pieces originated in Germany but much was made for the English market. It is a rare surviver with its lid in place and a very nicely done repair to where it joins the handle. This example is 7" high. Just recently The Road Show had a similar example on one of their shows and talked about them in length for those of you interested in reviewing the show. The following pictures show pieces of white delft some from England and some Dutch. Short descriptions are with each piece. Many of these pieces were dug or found in Rivers and have restorations required to bring these rare 17th Century pieces back to usable condition. White Delft for the most part was the common man's tableware and used heavily.
A 12" charger. This was a dug piece and has some repairs due to age and use. Late 17th Century Dutch.
A rare piece this strainer is Dutch and is 8 1/4" diameter x 2" high. Contact me at: | ||||||||||||||||||||||
